Allahabad HC rejects plea seeking online delivery of alcohol in UP

Posted on August 12, 2021August 12, 2021 By Ayush No Comments on Allahabad HC rejects plea seeking online delivery of alcohol in UP

The Allahabad HC on August 4 rejected a lawyer’s PIL trying to frame a scheme for providing online sale and delivery of alcohol in Uttar Pradesh. The petitioner argued Supreme Court required states to think about home delivery to avoid overcrowding amid COVID-19. Refusing the plea, HC said, “The reasons presented are not to avoid overcrowding or to maintain social distancing.”

A Bench of Acting Chief Justice Munishwar Nath Bhandari and Justice Subhash Chandra Sharma wrote that the petitioner did not cite reasons like avoiding overcrowding rather it relied on the argument of an increase in income of the State.
