Class 12 student walks Supreme Court attempting reopening of schools across the country

Posted on August 13, 2021August 13, 2021 By Ayush No Comments on Class 12 student walks Supreme Court attempting reopening of schools across the country

The plea explained that on account of uncertainty and vacillation on part of the Centre and various State governments and Union Territories including Delhi government resumption of physical classes has not occurred till date.

The petitioner student wanted directions to be published to Centre and States to bring a holistic, impartial, and speedy judgment, scrutinizing the re-opening of schools to encourage the student community to attend physical classes with reasonable protection.

The petitioner stated that he is reflecting the beliefs and impressions of a large body of the student community of the country, especially the underprivileged and voiceless children, in putting up this very crucial issue.

It was accepted that the non-opening of schools has had ill effects both psychological and physical on students.

Moreover, since classes are carried virtually via online medium, economically poor students have not been able to access such classes, the plea said.

The petition registered through advocate Ravi Prakash Mehrotra recommended that in various examples students have had to exercise manual remunerative work in the absence of formal education simply to make ends meet or under pressure from their families.
