Russia is considered to be the most sporting nation in the world. But this time it will get its medals under the name of the Russian Olympic Committee (ROC).
On July 25, 2021, when Vitalina Batsarashkina performing under the name of ROC won gold in the 10m pistol competition at the Tokyo Olympics, Tchaikovsky’s Piano Concerto No. 1 was presented instead of the Russian anthem. The Russian anthem will not be performed for any Russian athlete who wins a medal under the name of ROC at the Olympics.
The Russian Olympic Committee will be of 335 athletes from Russia at the Tokyo Olympics 2020 as Russia was banned by the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) in 2019.
Russian athletes playing under the name ROC will not be permitted to use Russia’s flag or anthem. Instead, they will be using a logo and kits of ROC.
